There should be a schrader valve on the filter head (it looks like the same thing you put air in your tire through) in which to check the fuel pressure. You'll either need to buy or make a gage the test this. If you have 40 psi or above while cranking then your ok. If not start looking at your fuel system. Dec 15, 2006 · Im looking at a few 4 car haulers at the moment, I think the DT466 is among the best diesels out there. Ive looked at Chevys with a CAT 3116, Fords with 8.3 Cummins. Can anyone tell me how many miles I could expect a DT466 to last between overhauls (can be in-frame) ? It will be hauling 4 vehicle... No oil pressure = no start, so you have to fill the oil filter for much the same reason that you have to fill the fuel filter. I THINK this system was only used in certain medium-duty International and Caterpillar engines (including the Ford Powerstroke)... but there might be others. Mar 31, 2007 · From all the engines I have worked on, I have found that they don't do much for a high mileage diesel engine with tons of blow by and high oil consumption. The reason - high internal engine pressure - 2 to 3 times what is produced in a gasoline engine.
